Mission Statement
The Conestoga Sailing School promotes sailing to develop a lifelong appreciation for sailing as an environmentally sustainable leisure and healthy lifestyle activity, and to support a competitive youth sailing program. The sailing club develops leadership and teamwork skills in youth.
The objectives of the club are to promote a high standard of skill and seamanship in the handling of sail craft; to foster a friendly and cooperative spirit among its members and guests; to perpetuate the tradition and fine spirit of the sport of sailing; and to arrange, develop and maintain proper facilities for the recreation of the Members of the Club on a non-profit basis.
The two primary goals of the club are to improve the caliber of racing at the club and to organize recreational sailing activities based at the club. The sailing club offers comprehensive sailing school programs for both youth and adults. The featured club activity is the program of regularly scheduled club races, which take place in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
Club Activities
The sailing season runs from late-April to mid-September (depending on water levels). We have a very active summer day school program for youth and evening programs for adults of all ages and abilities, from beginner to seasoned racer. Fun-spirited races are held twice a week during June, July and August. After each race there is a small BBQ at the club where members can relive the excitement of the race. In addition to racing there are many week-end social events including BBQ's, special club events and relaxing evening cruises. The Conestoga Sailing Club can accommodate sailors of nearly every ability and background. The club currently has a fleet of 16 boats for members to use, featuring boats appropriate for small children, keen racing adults, and even an Able-Sail Trimaran for disabled sailors.
Our club has a beautiful setting overlooking the Conestoga Lake, with a sprawling picnic area, a somewhat rocky beach, and a spacious clubhouse with full kitchen and washroom facilities. Check out the pictures of our facilities in the photos section.
