Social Event

Club Opening 2019 is This Saturday, April 27!

Yes, it’s finally club opening this Saturday !!!!   Sailing season is starting!

It is hard to believe, but the snow is long gone, and the water level seems to be back down to the upper end of the target range.

We’ve had some April showers, but the sun will hopefully be out, and we should have a great Opening Day.

We start around 9:30 AM and there is a lot to do for everyone. Many hands make light work. The task list will be added in the next day or so – check back for updates. You can also Email any questions to our Shore Captain.

The grounds could still be a little wet, so bring your boots along with your work clothes, and preferably something dry/warm to change into just in case.

Lunch will be provided.

A few other items:

  1. Early bird discount ends this Saturday! For those who haven’t already, you need to register your membership online, and you can also pay there, or give/send us a cheque.  Those of you with a slip must also pay before club opening to retain your spot. Email us for any questions.
NEW: we are also accepting payments by Interac e-Transfer. See separate news item for instructions.
  2. Weekly races start Wednesday May 22nd, first start at 7:00 PM.
  3. General Open house is on Sunday June 2nd. Please come help out!
  4. Warm Water regatta is on June 8-9.

Registration for Youth camps and CANSail lessons are also open.  If you know anyone who may be interested in learning to sail, pass on the links and make sure to invite them to the open house.

That’s it for now, see you Saturday.

So thanks again to all the members, sailing school students, and parents that took time out of their Sunday afternoon to join us for our end of season event. We’d also like to thank Uncle Al Schonborn (W3854) for his presentation on Wayfarer Sail Shape and Upwind Tunning. To a see a copy of Uncle Al’s Upwind Sail Tunning Made Simple document click here.

All club members are encouraged to come out and show support for the many donors and volunteers for the project. A special recognition will be given to the Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation, Kitchener Sports Association, Cities of Waterloo and Kitchener and the many other donors who made the replacement of the 40 year old docks a reality.
